Overview
Five and a half years after Kennedy joined as its first executive hire, Veracyte became a public company. On October 30, 2013 it priced an initial public offering of 5,000,000 shares of common stock at $13.00 per share and began trading on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol VCYT.1 The offering closed on November 4, 2013.2
Context
The registration statement filed ahead of the offering is the most detailed primary record of Kennedy’s career to that point. It lists her among the company’s executive officers and sets out her roles: Senior Vice President of Research and Development from April 2008, Chief Scientific Officer from September 2008, and before Veracyte a Senior Director at Affymetrix from January 2000 to March 2008, with earlier scientific roles at Chiron Corporation and Millennium Pharmaceuticals.3 Much of the dating on this site rests on that filing.
At the time of the offering Veracyte had one commercial product, the Afirma thyroid test launched in January 2011; the lung tests that followed were still in development.4
